This year, I’m taking a serious step as a grownup and doing my taxes myself (with the help of some software – I’m not screwing it up any more than I have to). I’ve just been through the program’s interview process and everything seems to be calculated with a nice return. But I don’t know if it’s right, and so I’m afraid to file it. I’m going to have to get some advice from my mom, but she’ll probably tell me to just bring it down there and she’ll get it done cuz she’s probably sick of my worrying. I’m very grateful for this offer, but I figure I should really learn to do this myself sooner rather than later because I don’t think my mum will want to get my taxes done for me when I’m 73. However, after this nerve-wracking experience, I think I’m just going to go and pay someone else to do it for me next year. I know that’s not truly “doing it myself”, but it’s not getting my mom to take it to someone else either.
