Here are pictures of the start of this year’s garden chez melissa and Sean.

I was planting plants for four hours this afternoon. Thank goodness the weather held up and it didn’t rain. I know it’s a little early to be gardening in Toronto, but I figure if I can buy the plants, I may as well try it. Besides, last year, I started too late and that resulted in fewer tomatoes. Now that my tomatoes are planted and the plants are just babies, there is reason to be optimistic that I will grow really successful tomatoes this year.

This is important to me because I love tomatoes. They are one of my all time favourite foods. They are perfect in their versatility and all around tastiness. My stepdad gave me a page from his “You might be a redneck if…” calendar that says “You might be a redneck if…Homegrown tomatoes make your list of the most important things in life.” So I guess my tomato-growing obsession makes me a redneck, but I am okay with that.
