QotD: Books From My Childhood

What books did you love as a child?
Submitted by hearts.

I was a voracious reader as a kid and I read everything that I could get my hands on. I actually read so much that my mom once grounded me from reading for a week. It was probably cuz I was reading at the table, and the grounding didn’t really work.

I loved Judy Blume’s books growing up, and one of my favourites was “Starring Sally J. Freedman as Herself”. I remember taking it out of the school library and seeing that I was the first person to read it in several years. The next year, I came across it again, and discovered that I was the last person to read it. So I decided to make a tradtion of taking this book out of the library once a year and reading it. I did that until I bought my own copy at a book fair. That copy has stayed with me and even now I occasionally pick it up and read it.

That woman can write from the viewpoint of kids and teenagers like no other author I can think of.
