I’m pretty sure this that this is me on my first day of kindergarten. That puts the date at September, 1983. I had just turned five a few days before.
I’m glad to see that eyeglasses have become a little more stylish for kids. Those glasses don’t scream “I’m a five year old who is looking for adventures” – they whisper that I was breaking into Grandma’s purse to play dress-up. They’re sized down to a kid’s face, but they are still ginormous. Despite their ginormosity, I still managed to lose my glasses regularly as a kid. It used to drive my mother crazy.
I still have that big toothy smile though. Between that and the glasses, I’m pretty recognizable in this picture.
