Cabbage patch kids had such funny names, but I guess they were memorable. Mine came with the name Mildred Caroline (still ick) but I went through the process of having it legally changed to Christina Mae. I believe they sent me a new birth certificate and everything.

I wonder where she is, I’d love to give her to Juliette. (oh! and remember the cabbage patch pets? those were odd)

I remember my aunt made quite a few of those dolls for the little girls in her life. We may have even done up some sort of adoption papers. I remember writing Betty Lou’s name on a piece of paper. I’m pretty sure the homemade dolls came first. We got them in the summer and the CPKs were a Christmas gift.

You reminded me that have a homemade “Cabbage Patch” kid, too. I’d forgotten all about her! I think my mom and my grandmother made it together, but not until after I had my actual Cabbage Patch doll, Morgana Bonnie.

It’s nice that we can pass on things like that to our children and not have to spend a fortune on a collector’s item to do it. Enjoy playing with dolls again – isn’t that one of the great benefits of parenthood?

I love vacation days when Matt and I get to spend the day together alone. Glad you were able to have a good time doing things together, but I’m with you – especially after your description of what it was like to shoot a gun (I’ve never even seen one up close) – I don’t think I ever want to shoot one!

After I came back from my grocery shopping on Sunday, Sean discovered a coupon book my MIL gave me a few weeks ago. He leafed through it and found coupons for numerous products we use regularly. I don’t think I had bought those things on that particular trip, but still – d’oh!

I kept saying the same thing, but after my previous cleaning, I thought “this really hurt and I don’t want it to hurt again, so I better make the time to floss”. (The joys of having teeth that are very close together.)

But I only have one kid and she’s still in a crib so it’s easy to keep things under control while I’m getting ready and husband is still in bed (oops, I mean “preparing for his day”).

That said, Flora’s watched me while I floss and she knows what it is (“Flossin’!”). Maybe she’ll be my conscience when she’s older.

When we were living together pre-marriage, I used to joke that we were staying together for the cat. Now substitute ‘kid’ for ‘cat’ and it’s less funny, but I still like to joke about it.
